Sip, Sip Summer

You don’t have to travel far to order those delicious, mouth – watering summer drinks you’ve seen in everyone’s travel photos! In fact, you can step outside onto your back porch, relax next to the pool with friends, or wander down to the beach with a cooler filled with tasty treats! Once you get through reading what I have for you, you’ll be able to serve any of these refreshing beverages to you or your friends!

Watermelon Frose

When you think of summer what first pops into your head? How about the crisp, refreshing taste of watermelon. We found the trendiest watermelon drink to sip on with pals this summer! With frose being all the rage, why not whip up a batch of watermelon frose in a hollowed out watermelon to impress your friends! All you need is 1 (standard 750 mL) bottle of Rose, 1/2 cup of fresh watermelon syrup, 1/2 cup of fresh watermelon juice, 1/2 lime, juiced, and watermelon slices for garnish. To make the fresh watermelon syrup, you will need 1/2 cup of fresh watermelon juice (from about 2 cups fresh watermelon cubes) and 1/3 cup sugar.

The secret to making this frose the best is pouring the Rose in ice cube trays and freezing the night before. This way you minimize the amount of ice you have to use when blending all the ingredients together, preventing a watered down taste!

Pineapple Margaritas

Who doesn’t want to drink a summer cocktail out of a pineapple this year? The delicious twist on the frozen margarita is made with pineapples adding a sweet, tropical taste to the traditional margaritas. To make this Instagram worthy drink, don’t worry about spending all day in the kitchen. You will only need about 10 minutes of time before you’re back in the sun. You will need 8 mini pineapples, or two regular pineapples, 12 oz. of silver tequila (I recommend Don Julio or Jose Cuervo), 8 oz. of triple sec, 1/2 cup of lime juice, 2 cups of ice, pineapple slices (for garnish), lime wedges (for garnish), and salt (for garnish).

When removing the fruit on the inside of the pineapple remember not to throw it away or eat it all! You will add the pineapple to the blender with the rest of the ingredients making a slushy to pour back into the pineapples! Garnish, then sip away!

Cake by the Ocean

Cake by the ocean? Don’t mind if we do! This fun summer cocktail is made with cake flavored vodka, coconut rum, pineapple juice and orange juice. Whether you are celebrating a birthday, a special occasion, or just another day of summer, this cocktail is the perfect drink to make for yourself or for a group of friends to sip on while hanging out and relaxing! To make a single cocktail you’ll need 2 oz. of cake flavored vodka (vanilla or whipped cream vodka can be substituted), 2 oz. of coconut rum, 2 oz. of pineapple juice, 2 oz. of orange juice, Maraschino cherries (garnish), pineapple (garnish), and orange slices (garnish). To make a pitcher of these summer drinks to share with friends substitute 2 oz. of all liquid ingredients for 2 cups and add 2 cups of club soda.

Here’s a few secrets to perfecting Cake by the Ocean. Make sure your liquor is chilled, or use a shaker with ice. If the cocktail is too strong, then add club soda to reduce the strength in taste. To get the cute rainbow sprinkle finish on the glass, dip the rim of your glass in honey, followed by sprinkles to complete this delicious liquid treat!

Avocado Smoothie

Since avocados go together with literally everything, this delightfully green drink will be all you “avo” wanted! Avocado, pineapple, spinach, kale, coconut, and lime blended together giving you a guilt free summer drink that once you add a splash of rum will be just the drink to get your Sunday Funday going or kick off your Friday weekend festivities! To make this smoothie, you will need 1 ripe avocado, 3 cups diced pineapple (chilled), 1 cup spinach, 1 cup kale, 2 cups coconut water, 3 tablespoons of agave nectar, 3 tablespoons of lime juice, 1 tablespoon of coconut butter or oil, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Additionally add 2 oz. of rum or 2 oz. of tequila and 1/2 oz. of triple sec. or your choice or liquor! Garnish with a pineapple to give your summer drink a complete look!

Ice Cubes

These ice cube ideas are sure to make you the coolest amongst your friends this summer! Additionally they will have all your summer drinks photo worthy and keep your summer drinks chilled without being watered down! Using mini cookie cutters, slice fruit, then cut out fruit of your choice. Place in freezer over night. The next day you will have tasty frozen ice cubes that are sweet and delicious! Once thawed you can even eat them! If you have decorative ice cube trays this can be really fun and fancy, however, regular ice cube trays work just as well! Pour your favorite champagne or sweet wine into an ice cube tray and freeze overnight. For an additional kick, cut up pieces of fruit and place those in the bottom of the ice tray, then pour sparkling wine on top!
