Stay near or in the Gaslamp District, which is composed of 16 1/2 blocks in the historical downtown San Diego. The Gaslamp District is home to many restaurants, live music venues, and night life. The main street of this historic neighborhood is considered 5th Avenue, extending out to 4th and 6th, and then out to Broadway and Harbor creating the 16 1/2 block space. The 94 historic buildings that reside in the Gaslamp District were built during the Victorian Era, and are still used today as functional businesses. Pictured above is the luxurious Kimpton Solamar Hotel located on 6th Avenue resting at a mid range price point relative to other hotels in the Gaslamp District. The Pendry San Diego and The Westin San Diego Gaslamp Quarter are also good choices in lodging.

You can find this gem located on Ocean Beach. What’s a Sunday without a brunch? Two notable places for breakfast or brunch will have you wondering if you were eating breakfast or dessert! Café 21 located in the Gaslamp District makes a tiramisu pancake that will have your taste buds questioning what time of day it is. On vacation every day feels like Sunday, so why not brunch more than one day? Kitchen 4140 located in the community of Clairemont within San Diego, whips up a red velvet waffle! Donut worry we didn’t forget about the sweet treats! Swing by Great Maple for a Maple Bacon Doughnut that is sure to fulfill that sugar craving of yours! Puesto a Mexican restaurant located in the Gaslamp District, has two notable items to try here! Their “Bunuelo Ice Cream Sandwich” has quite the twist to the traditional ice cream sandwich by coating tortilla chips in cinnamon sugar topped off with drizzled fudge and chocolate chips. Can you say yum? Their Guacamole Nogada is “avocontrol” and a must for every guacamole lover. Pomegranate, green mango chile de arbol, tomato, and candied walnuts make this dip stand out! George’s at the Cove in La Jolla, is a hot spot due to their scenic view. In addition, their fish tacos battered and fried in avocado and black bean soup have been quite the talk of the town lately.

Loungesix is a rooftop bar with a spacious pool in the heart of Gaslamp District. Luxurious rooftop pool, what else could you want? The Rooftop by STK (pictured above) located in Gaslamp District has a club vibe to the rooftop bar. Pool parties and different DJs performing, it’s the perfect place to celebrate any occasion or even just a girls night out! Located just outside the downtown area in Banker’s Hill, Mister A’s rooftop bar has an amazing view of both the city and the bay. Did we mention that they make unbelievable mac n cheese? Don’t believe us? Try it for yourself.

“Sea” you at the beach! These San Diego beaches will leave you anything but salty with the diversity of a little something for everyone! Pacific Beach, pictured above, is your typical Southern California beach. The beach has a boardwalk with shops and restaurants, a night life that attracts a younger crowd, and a wooden pier. This beach is a must see for the traditional SoCal experience. Mission Beach is a unique beach due to its ability to offer swimming and surfing, as well as a boardwalk, while right next door to an amusement park. This makes for a fun day at the beach and amusement park, giving you flexibility to fit more activities in. Mission Bay, with 27 miles of shoreline, is the largest of its kind. Here you can rent paddleboards, wakeboards, and surfboards as well as take lessons! La Jolla Shores is a beautiful beach, at night you can be sure to see baby seals, sometimes whales, and even baby dolphins if you hang around long enough! Waves here are the most gentle if you wish to learn how to surf or prefer to just wade around in the water!
